Based in Hawthorne, New Jersey, Caring Hands is a beacon of light for families struggling to find adequate support for their loved ones with special needs.

And after meeting Kim Mickus, Founder of Caring Hands, it became evident that she genuinely wants to make a difference. Although we chose vastly different career paths, we are both fighting on a united front.

“We want everyone we work with to live happy, fulfilling lives. We all deserve that. Can it be harder for individuals with developmental disabilities to reach that point? Yes, and unfortunately, it almost always is more difficult for them. But that additional layer of difficulty just makes us try harder, and the extra work and dedication pays off.

Our clients are amazing. They are capable of so much. All we really do is help them to understand that. Because once you see that look of recognition in their eyes, that look of “hey, I can do this,” it’s incredible.”

-Kim Mickus, Founder of Caring Hands

Finding community members who share your goals is one thing. Partnering with the community members actively working toward achieving them is where real progress begins.

Caring Hands officially opened its first office location in Hawthorne, New Jersey, just after New Year’s Day. They are well on their way toward opening a residential group home that I will wholeheartedly support.
