New Jersey’s residential placement system can only guarantee the welfare of residents if safety standards and policies are upheld. Last week, my son Aidan was severely attacked by another resident within his group home. New Jersey’s Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) has guidelines in place to prevent unprovoked occurrences like this; however, the proper level of care is not being provided due to negligence and mismanagement.

Preserving the Safety of Group Home Residents

Group home residents with a proven tendency to commit unprovoked violence require a different level of care, preventing them from harming themselves and others. The photographs below demonstrate that Aidan sustained multiple injuries due to an attack that should never have happened.

Take Action

I urge you to spread the word, helping to ensure the safety of group home residents throughout the state of New Jersey.
