Securing quality residential placement for children and adults with special needs in New Jersey may seem like a daunting process. At the Law Offices of Johanna G. Burke, we can work with our clients and their family members every step of the way to ensure they find the support necessary to thrive.

How Does Residential Placement Work?

For children and young adults under 21-years-old, the New Jersey Division of Children and Family Services (DCF) is directly involved in the residential placement process. For those 21 and older, the New Jersey Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) gets involved. The transitional period between ages 20 and 21 is usually aided by a Care Management Organization (CMO). With help from a support coordinator chosen by the family, the goal is always to find the best possible placement for your child with special needs. I have personally helped families throughout the entirety of the residential placement process, and have directly worked with in and out-of-state agencies including:

  • Bancroft
  • YCS
  • Oaks Integrated Care
  • Allies
  • The Woods Facility in Pennsylvania
  • The Plowshare Facility in New Hampshire
  • The Brookhaven Facility in Oklahoma
