Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many students with special needs were unable to access the services and support they required during this past year. This could have an especially devastating effect on 20-year-old students on the cusp of aging out of state-sponsored special education programs.

The Bill

Requires boards of education to provide special education and related services to certain students exceeding age of eligibility for special education and related services.

New Jersey State Legislature

If enacted, this bill will provide an additional year of special education services to students turning 21, who under normal circumstances would be denied continued access to them.
