Depending on your family’s unique circumstances, it is not always possible to provide adequate care for your child with special needs on your own. Many people with special needs require the care and support offered within New Jersey group homes. Unfortunately, the quality of care can drastically differ from one group home to another.

The Regional Discrepancy of New Jersey Group Homes

Having dealt with finding a reputable group home in New Jersey for my son Aidan, I can personally attest to the difficulty of finding suitable group homes within certain regions of the state. While southern and central New Jersey have a multitude of group homes, northern New Jersey is in dire need of them. Motivating the state to build quality group homes in this region is going to take time, effort, and dedication. But if each of us takes a little bit of time to spread awareness in regard to this important cause, it can end up making a big difference. Contact your district legislators and the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) to express your concerns and make your voices heard!
